‘Liquid Structure’ is an immersive sound, light, and projection experience that brings visitors into the kaleidoscopic patterns that underlie our physical reality. The project offers visitors a panorama of multisensory connections between patterns across the many scales of our universe.
The performance takes visitors on a trans-scalar journey through the many states, appearances, and mutations of water: from microscopic molecular patterns and crystalline structures to diaphanous atmospheric vapor, from a single droplet to an ocean to galactic gas clouds. Relying on datasets describing the behavior of water at different scales, the piece builds visual and aural experiences from empirical observations, making data experiential.
Imagined by Chilean composer Roque Rivas as a spatial soundscape, the music is synchronized with a projection-mapped crystaline sculpture. ‘Liquid Structure’ is a visceral bodily experience of the physical world in patterned motion.
